ConvertNow Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, the tools we use to run this site, and the choices you have. Written in plain language, not just legal boilerplate.
1. Who we are
ConvertNow.tools (“ConvertNow,” “we,” “us”) is an independently run website at convertnow.tools offering free, browser-based utilities across categories like developer tools, unit converters, finance calculators, and more. This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit the site or use a tool, and it applies to convertnow.tools and its subdomains.
If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected] and we’ll explain it properly, no ticket system, no bot, an actual reply.
2. What we collect
Information you give us directly
ConvertNow doesn’t require an account to use any tool, so most visitors never give us anything directly. If you email us, whether to report a bug, request a tool, or ask a question, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in that message.
What happens to what you type into a tool
Most tools on this site, converters, calculators, generators, run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The numbers, text, or files you enter are processed on your own device and are never transmitted to our servers. Where a specific tool ever needs server-side processing to produce your result, that input is used only to generate the output and is not stored once your session ends.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, we automatically receive some technical information when you visit, through Google Analytics and Jetpack (see Section 5):
- IP address (used to estimate general location, then not retained in identifiable form)
- Browser type and version, device type, and operating system
- Pages viewed, time spent, and the site or search engine that referred you
- Approximate location at country/region level
- General usage patterns, such as which tool categories are most used
3. How we use this information
- To keep the site running reliably and to fix problems when tools break
- To understand which tools people actually use, so we know what to build next
- To respond to emails you send us
- To detect and block abusive traffic, scraping, and security threats
- To serve relevant advertising, where applicable (Section 6)
We do not use this information to build advertising profiles of individual visitors ourselves, and we do not sell it.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses cookies for analytics, security, and (where applicable) advertising. We keep the full breakdown, cookie names, what sets them, how long they last, on a dedicated page: Cookie Policy. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time; blocking them won’t stop tools from working, since tool logic runs locally in your browser, not through cookies.
5. Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of established providers to run and improve the site. None of them are given more access than they need to do their specific job.
| Service | What it’s for | Provider’s policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | Aggregate traffic and usage statistics, which pages and tools are popular | Google Privacy Policy |
| Jetpack (by Automattic) | Site statistics, security/brute-force protection, and performance features (image delivery, caching helpers) | Automattic Privacy Policy |
| LiteSpeed Cache | Page caching for faster load times; may set a technical cookie to serve the correct cached version of a page. Not used to identify or profile visitors. | LiteSpeed Privacy Policy |
| Rank Math | SEO metadata and structured data for search engines; does not collect visitor data itself | Rank Math Privacy Policy |
| Sassy Social Share | Displays share buttons for networks like WhatsApp, X, LinkedIn, and Reddit. If you click a share button, you’re taken to that network’s own share flow, subject to its own policy, we don’t receive data from that action | See the relevant network’s own privacy policy |
| Google AdSense | Serves advertising on the site (Section 6) | Google Ads Policy |
| PayPal | Only if you click “Buy me a coffee,” you’re taken to PayPal.com to complete a voluntary donation. We never see or store your payment details | PayPal Privacy Statement |
6. Advertising and Google AdSense
This site may display advertising served by Google AdSense and its advertising partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this website or other websites on the internet. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (EU).
7. Sharing and disclosure
We don’t sell personal data. We share information only with the service providers listed in Section 5, strictly so they can perform the function we use them for, or when required by law, to enforce our Terms & Conditions, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ConvertNow, our users, or the public.
8. How long we keep data
Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ and Jetpack’s standard retention settings. Emails and their contents are kept only as long as needed to handle your request, and are deleted or archived periodically after. Tool inputs processed client-side are never sent to us in the first place, so there’s nothing to retain.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you’re located, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your data, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
If you’re in the EU/EEA, you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; as we’re based in Berlin, our lead supervisory authority is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BlnBDI). If you’re a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion, using the same contact email above.
10. Children’s privacy
ConvertNow.tools is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information (for example, by email), contact us and we’ll delete it.
11. Security
We use HTTPS encryption sitewide, and rely on Jetpack’s security features and our hosting provider’s infrastructure to guard against unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so while we take reasonable precautions, we can’t guarantee absolute security.
12. International data transfers
Because we use US-based providers like Google and Automattic, some data may be processed outside your home country, including in the United States. These providers maintain their own safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for handling data transferred from the EU/EEA and UK.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site, our tools, or the services we rely on change. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the most recent revision; meaningful changes will also be noted on this page.
14. Contact us
